How I Once Shared the Screen with Kevin Bacon [PHOTO]

So I have lived in Hampton Roads for pretty much my entire life, except a few years here and there where I lived other places, and four years living in Lynchburg for college. But a year after I graduated college, I decided to take a chance and live in NYC for a while and see if I could “find myself”.

I was young and ready for an adventure. So I hopped on a train and headed up to The Big Apple with some money and a dream. I spent the first six or seven months working for a streaming service in their Quality Control department (where I pretty much got to watch TV and Movies every single day). It was an incredible job, but wasn’t what I wanted to do. So I decided to put in my two weeks and for the next few months, give acting a try.

The hardest part is finding out how to get involved, but once you find sites where you can be an extra for TV shows, movies, courtroom television, etc. You simply put your credentials in, send in a headshot of yourself and just wait. I did this for a few weeks before I heard anything from anyone. Until one day, I get a phone call from one of the production agents for “The Following” which was a pretty dark drama on FX starring Kevin Bacon and I had gotten a gig as an extra on one of the episodes.

I showed up, it was cold, wet, and SNOWING. But sure enough, I was one of the NYC residents just walking the streets in a scene of “The Following” sharing the small screen with Kevin Bacon. I obviously had no idea which episode I was in, but once it came out, I found myself quickly — Talk about a fun sight to see.

After this experience, I was given a couple more “extra” roles on The Following and a remake of a movie (that’s a story for another day). It may not have led to a HUGE acting career, but it’s a story I’ll have for the rest of my life. And the screenshot to prove it.
