Although some beloved holiday traditions have been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, cities around Hampton Roads are still spreading holiday cheer with festive light displays.

Hampton

Hampton Holiday Wonder Walk Saturday, Dec. 12 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m: Take a pleasant stroll on 2.25 miles of a socially-distanced, glow-lighted trail with a few animated features along the way. Entrances and parking at Hampton Coliseum and Air Power Park.

$4 per person, Children ages 6 & under are free.

Newport News

NlightN Holiday Event Series:  The City of Newport News invites residents, businesses, churches/places of worship and other organizations to become part of the tour, which will take drivers from one end of the city to the other to enjoy light displays. Visit the NlightN Holiday Tour website and enter the address of the location that will be decorated. There is no cost to participate and all are invited to be part of the tour. The city also created an NlightN Holiday Tourmap to make it easy for people to find brightly-lit areas in Newport News.

Celebration in Lights, Virginia’s first drive-through holiday light event, opens for its 28th season on Thanksgiving night (Nov. 26). Newport News Park will be transformed by over a million individual lights, creating animated holiday and fanciful scenes, with a variety of new upgrades! The event will be open each evening from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., through New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). This year, admission on weeknights (Monday – Thursday) will be $12.00 per car, a savings of $3.00 off the weekend night (Friday – Sunday) rate of $15.00 per car. Additionally, advance tickets (good any night) can be purchased for $10.00 at the Newport News Visitor Center at the entrance to Newport News Park.

Newport News Park – Holiday Light Stroll (Roll)- The two-mile drive-thru event will take place Tuesday, Nov. 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Newport News Celebration in Light at Newport News Park. The one-night event is drive-thru only and pre-purchased tickets are required. The official Celebration in Lights opens to the general public on Thursday, Nov. 26.

Virginia Living Museum:  From Nov. 27 through Jan. 2, the VLM will host its Nature Nights Holiday Lights event. Tickets cost $9 for members and $12 for non-members with ages 2 and under free admission.

Norfolk

“WinterFest on the Wisconsin:” The Battleship Wisconsin decks will be transformed into a holiday experience for six-weeks beginning Nov. 21 and lasting until New Year’s Eve. Included in the decorations will be over 250,000-holiday lights, a 25-foot-tall Christmas tree, and animatronic elves. For more information, click here.

Norfolk Botanical Gardens:  The drive-thru light event will be displayed nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, until Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021. For more information, click here

 

Suffolk

Festival of Lights: Enjoy a sprinkle of cheer at the inaugural Suffolk Festival of Lights at Sleepy Hole Park. This drive-through light display will be open November 20th at 5:30 p.m. – December 30th at 9:30 p.m. The display will be closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas day. View five holiday light themes as you enjoy a quaint Festival of Lights drive-through display at Suffolk’s Sleepy Hole Park. Sleepy Hole Park is located at 4616 Sleepy Hole Road. Virginia Beach

Kampgrounds of America: A musical drive-thru called The Lights Of Christmas Virginia Beach will take place nightly from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, Nov. 13 through Dec. 31 at 101 KOA Lane in Virginia Beach (the entrance is off Prosperity Drive). For admission information, click here.

Town Center: Immerse yourself in the spirit of the season at Town Center of Virginia Beach. Experience the most beautiful lighting displays in Hampton Roads with the Dancing Northern Nights, Snow Globe Spectacular and Santa’s Snow Globe. Find out more here.

Bayport Credit Union Holiday Lights event is back at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. You can catch the light show from Friday, Nov. 13, until Jan. 3. It begins on 2nd Street and runs through 22nd Street, stretching about a mile long. You’ll have to purchase a ticket online ahead of time, which will be scanned on mobile devices to limit contact.

Williamsburg

Busch Gardens Christmas Celebration: Experience a winter wonderland at this ALL-NEW limited-capacity holiday event will take place on select dates from Nov. 13 to Jan. 2, 2021. Celebrate the merry season with Christmas lights, trees and holiday décor trimming eight European villages.
