Epic halftime shows, campus concerts, and Taylor Swift lighting up a football podcast?! Fall can’t come soon enough…
First up in today’s Scoop: It’s going to be a Pardi at this year’s Big 12 Championship Game! Jon Pardi is set to perform the halftime show during the game on December 6th in Texas.
Meanwhile, down in Chapel Hill, the University of North Carolina is turning home opener day into a full-blown party. Carolina alum Chase Rice will headline the new Chapel Thrill concert series before the coin toss. Chase shared on Instagram, “From the place, to the people and the memories, it’ll be home til the day I’m gone. Can’t wait to be back and see my family again.”
And in other music news… yesterday’s New Heights podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce drew 1.3 million live viewers, all tuning in for Taylor Swift—and they got more than football talk. Taylor spent nearly two hours chatting about everything from sourdough bread and family health updates to buying her master recordings. But the big moment came when she officially announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, arriving October 3. (Swifties will note that’s 10/3—aka 13 in numerology.)
Taylor revealed that all 12 tracks were written during The Eras Tour and recorded on the European leg, with the title track featuring Sabrina Carpenter. She even admitted the tour’s fast-paced setlist changes were designed to mimic scrolling through an algorithm, shifting every 15–30 seconds. The live stream hit a snag about an hour and 44 minutes in when the feed cut out.
