Nugget, a 12-year-old Basset Hound, is our Pet of the Week at Virginia Beach Animal Care. This sweet senior boy has spent his whole life being a loyal companion, but now he finds himself in the unfamiliar and stressful environment of a shelter.
According to his previous family, Nugget is a wonderful listener and has a special way of comforting people when they’re feeling sad. Unfortunately, Nugget is the one who needs comfort now. At the shelter, he is feeling overwhelmed and scared, often spending his time trembling in his kennel.
Despite his fear, Nugget’s gentle nature still shines through. He previously lived with cats and could do well in a home with older children who understand how to give him the calm and patience he needs to settle in.
Senior dogs like Nugget have so much love left to give. What he needs most right now is a quiet home, a soft place to rest, and someone who will reassure him that he is safe and loved again.
If you have room in your heart and home, please consider adopting or fostering Nugget. After years of comforting others, this sweet Basset Hound deserves someone to comfort him.
At VBAC, adoption fees are reduced to just $1 for the following animals:
Standard adoption fees for dogs and cats remain $20.
