Meet Edgar, our Pet of the Week, available through Nana and Papa’s Nest. Edgar is a 12-year-old green-cheeked conure with a big personality and a love of perching on your head.
This sweet little bird is looking for a loving home through Nana and Papa’s Nest, a nonprofit rescue that has spent the last 10 years caring for parrots who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. Right now, the rescue is caring for nearly 60 birds in need of homes and facing a major challenge of their own.
The lease on their current location on Route 460 in Wakefield is up, and the organization is urgently trying to raise funds for a permanent home.
“We don’t have the funds to move. We really need to find a place that we can buy so that we are never in this situation again,” the rescue shared.
The rescue currently has fundraisers set up through Facebook, GoFundMe, and Zeffy to help support their mission. Another important way to help is through adoption.
Many birds are available for same-day adoption. As long as you have your cage set up and everything ready at home, if you are chosen by one of these birds (Nana and Papa’s Nest always say the birds choose their owner), they are ready to go home with you the same day.
