Furry Friday is brought to you by Fusion Home Services and Lucky One Lemonade.
This Furry Friday looks a little different because our featured pet doesn’t have any fur! Meet my foster bearded dragon, Dino Nugget!
Dino Nugget is about a year old and was surrendered to Reptile Education of Virginia by his previous family, who could no longer care for him.
He is about as laid-back as they come. He loves his veggies, goes absolutely wild for bugs, and is incredibly easy to handle. He is active and loves to zoom around during his floor time, flicking his tongue and exploring his environment. In his tank, you’ll find him basking on his log before eventually finding the perfect spot to pancake and go to sleep.
But his absolute favorite place to be? Your shoulder. This little dragon will climb right up and perch there like he owns the place — and honestly, he kind of does.
Now, full transparency…Dino Nugget is not a fan of bath soaks. We have tried. He has opinions. Sorry, buddy. They are important to keep him well hydrated.

Bearded dragons make wonderful pets, but they do require a proper setup to thrive. Here is what Dino Nugget’s new family will need to have in place:
The Enclosure
Bearded dragons need a large tank — typically a 120-gallon enclosure for an adult — with plenty of room to explore, climb, and bask. Safe, non-toxic substrate is a must to keep him healthy and comfortable.
Lighting & Heat
Beardies are desert animals and need specific lighting to survive and thrive. His setup will need to include overhead heat, a UVB light, and a daylight lamp, along with the tools to monitor and control temperatures in both the basking and cool zones of his tank.
Climbing & Enrichment
Dino Nugget loves to climb and bask — so hammocks, rocks, logs, and other climbing structures are a wonderful addition to his space. He also needs a cooler side of his tank where he can regulate his body temperature throughout the day.
Diet
Bearded dragons thrive on variety. Dino Nugget’s daily menu includes a fresh salad of staple greens, feeder insects like dubia roaches or crickets, and vitamin and mineral supplements — including calcium — to keep his bones strong and his health in check. A well-fed beardie is a happy beardie, and Dino Nugget takes his meals very seriously.
If you have been thinking about welcoming a bearded dragon into your home, or if you are an experienced reptile owner ready to give this sweet boy the forever home he deserves, Dino Nugget is ready to meet you.

Dino nugget is an active guy so I highly recommend a leash and harness for him like the one pictured. He easily let me attach the harness for some time in the sun.
