Cole Swindell Reflects On Fatherhood, Baby Name Ideas, And Balancing A Packed Tour Schedule

Cole Swindell and his wife Courtney Little are preparing for the arrival of their first child, and the country star couldn’t be more excited. In a new interview with Katie Neal on Audacy, Swindell opened up about how this new chapter is already changing his life in the best way and some challenges that could be up ahead.

For starters, he shared that the stunning mom-to-be is doing “great” now, but she had a bit of a bumpy start during the first trimester. During this time Swindell learned he had to step up so that Courtnery could rest and continue growing a healthy baby.

“She didn’t have much energy and I was like, wow, this is a lot different. I noticed she does a lot around here, but she’s feeling good and everything has gone great so far. So we’re just really thankful.”

Finding Out The Gender

Shortly after announcing their pregnancy, the couple unveiled the gender of their first baby using a heartwarming video posted to Instagram. The clip that was captured during the photoshoot for their original March 3 announcement, starts in black and white as they hold up a baby onesie. As soon as the parents-to-be pin the tiny outfit onto the clothing line, it turns to color, revealing that they are expecting a baby girl.

At the very end, Swindell is seen placing their sonogram photo above the onesie and flashing a big smile next to his beautiful wife. To make the moment even more special, the video was set to Swindell’s stripped-down rendition of his latest single, “Forever To Me (Our Version).”

Before fans got to hear the news, the couple got to share the milestone with their family members. Cole Swindell noted that both of his brothers and their wives were over the moon, but his sister-in-law was especially excited to hear that a girl would be joining the family as she has three boys of her own. Swindell and his other half shared their family members’ enthusiasm over finding out their first child would be a girl.

“Obviously Courtney was hoping it was a girl,” he admitted. “As long as Courtney’s good and the baby’s good, I’m good with whatever. So I’m very excited about it.”

When asked if he had guessed the gender correctly, Swindell revealed he initially believed they would be having a boy.

“I thought it was going to be a boy…One of my brothers has a girl, so I do have a niece, so I guess it was a possibility, but I don’t know how that works, honestly. I was fine with whatever. So yeah, I’m terrified and excited and just all the things, but it’s really cool to hear other people the way they talk about it. And Courtney’s sister Laura has had a baby about a year and a half ago and so she’s been dealing with that, being an aunt, loving that. So it just feels like good timing.”

Leaning Towards A Family Name

The next important detail that fans are excited to learn is what the couple will be naming their baby. While Cole Swindell is staying tight-lipped on this piece of information until their little one is born, he did share that the name will likely be something “family oriented” from both sides of their families.

“I know that’s a special thing. So I think we’re close. We’ve got a few good options,” he shared.

The Georgia native goes on to say that getting the house and everything else ready to welcome their little girl has “taken over” just about everything in their lives, but he’s “totally cool with that” because so far, it’s been an “awesome” new adventure.

Finding A Balance Between Time On The Road And Time At Home

Things will start to get tricky in a few months, as the baby could come in the midst of a very busy tour schedule for Swindell.

“It’s been a challenge. My guy, Kevin Meads at WME, I know he’s been struggling trying to keep up with my schedule and make sure it all works, but that’s why you have folks on your team like that. ‘Cause this is a once in a lifetime deal here so trying to figure out when I need to shut it off and be at home, but then they come early, it’s just…who knows.”

Right now, he is doing everything he can to keep his upcoming dates as scheduled and then he will get to enjoy some time off around the baby’s due date. Once things get settled at home, he will be back on the road, maybe even sooner than Courtney would prefer, he admitted.

Seeing as how this is the first time Swindell and his wife have ever had to navigate a situation like this, they are still learning each day.

“I think we’ll learn as we go and if something were to happen, hopefully the fans they understand I’ve got to be there for that. But that’s a good problem to have. We’re going to get to do shows and finish up the year with new music and new baby and just putting a new song out at some point. So things are looking good.”

This is certainly gearing up to be a big year for Cole Swindell. He also recently dropped some major news regarding his career, letting fans know that his highly anticipated fifth studio album, Spanish Moss, is set to arrive on June 27. His latest preview of the project came with the release of the title track, a deeply personal song that ties back to his roots in Georgia.

“Honestly I’ve never done anything that felt like that, the song, it just felt like a new vibe and just something cool to name a project and I could not be more proud of it…sometimes it all comes together and it just feels how it should. And that’s one of those songs that was worthy of naming the album after. And I think I can’t wait for people to hear all of them. I think it’s just a different stuff than I’ve done before,” he explained.

2025 Happy Hour Sad Tour

Following a run of festival appearances over the summer, Swindell will embark on his 2025 headlining Happy Hour Sad Tour. The trek will launch on September 4 in Toledo, OH and continue through October 26 with stops across Georgia, Colorado, Washington, Florida and more. Priscilla BlockLogan Crosby and Greylan James will serve as special guests.
