Trace began teasing his new chapter of music last summer with the release of his song “Cowgirl Ride.” In a message to fans, he explained that he was working on a country album and that at the time, he was celebrating one year alcohol free.

“Cowgirl Ride” blends the hum of a fiddle and country-inspired lyrics that celebrate the lifestyle, while its production leans more toward a pop-infused sound.

After receiving some criticism about the song from listeners, Trace questioned, “Why are some people so upset that I wrote one of the greatest country songs of all time??”

He later declared, “I’m more country than 95% of all current country artists. So I had to show Nashville what a real country hit sounded like 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m sorry guys but I had to do it!!”

Following the release of “Cowgirl Ride,” the singer/songwriter debuted another song called “On The Run.” At the time of the release, Trace opened up about his decision to transition into the country genre and alluded to the fact that he could save country music from what it’s become.

“Country music seems to be in a state of complete distress. I can’t even turn on country radio without hearing the same regurgitated sounding songs by the corniest guys ever,” he wrote. “I was ready to retire from music & start a boxing career but COUNTRY MUSIC NEEDS ME! My album is on the way! We’re going to fix this.”

While a release date and further details surrounding the project have yet to be revealed, Trace promised that new music is coming soon and teased that he plans to release a song that he co-wrote with his sister, Miley.

“My next song I’m releasing is a ballad that’s totally different for me! Miley wrote the chorus & I wrote the verses. Filming my music video parts for it next week…I’ll keep you posted on the release date,” he wrote.

The news comes just days after Trace Cyrus took to social media to express concerns for his father, Billy Ray Cyrus

“Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life,” he shared alongside a throwback photo of himself and Billy Ray. “Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”

Trace admitted that he knew Billy Ray might be “upset” with him for posting the unfiltered message on social media, however, he said he “could care less at this point.”

“Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away. Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better,” Trace urged. “Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though. We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns.”

Trace then expressed his hope that his dad would take his message to heart and seek the help he needs.

“You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at mamaws funeral when you didn’t expect me to I’m still here right now. As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad,” he wrote. “We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing.. I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.”

Billy Ray Cyrus has yet to respond.
