Furry Friday is brought to you by Lucky One Lemonade
One year ago, I met a sweet shorty bully named Thistle.
In June 2025, Thistle was featured as our Pet of the Week while she waited for a home through Bully Advocate and Rescue Collective. Shortly after, she was adopted and finally got the happy ending we all hoped for.
But this week, I reunited with Thistle under heartbreaking circumstances.
At just 5 years old, Thistle is back with the rescue after her family moved and left her behind.
For a sweet dog who has already experienced so much loss, it’s hard not to wonder what she must be feeling.
Before arriving at BARC, Thistle was rescued from a hoarding and breeding situation. Despite her difficult past, she has remained one of the sweetest, gentlest girls you’ll ever meet. Thistle is a quiet soul who prefers a slower pace in life.
Her favorite thing in the world? Sitting next to her person and soaking up cuddles.
If you’re not ready to adopt, fostering can make a tremendous difference. A foster home would give Thistle a chance to decompress, receive individualized attention, and remember what it feels like to be part of a family again.
You can meet Thistle at PetSuites Chesapeake’s 2nd Annual Adopt-A-Thon on June 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will feature:
• Adoptable pets looking for loving homes
• Local vendors
• Food trucks
• Raffle baskets benefiting local rescues
• Tours of the PetSuites Chesapeake facility
Whether you’re looking to adopt, foster, volunteer, or simply support local animal welfare organizations, it’s a great opportunity to make a difference.
I was thrilled to see Thistle again this week. I just wish it had been under different circumstances.
Let’s make sure her next reunion is with the family who will love her forever.
