Though the L.A. County D.A. found Nicole Eggert “credible,” Scott Baio will not be prosecuted for allegedly sexually assaulting the actress in the ’80s, TMZ reports. Eggert has accused Baio of molesting her between the ages 14 and 18 while they were shooting Charles in Charge. Baio says they had sex only once when she was 18. Sources tell the gossip blog the D.A. called the case “potentially prosecutable” if it wasn’t for the statute of limitations. Eggert tells TMZ, “I always knew this case was beyond statutes of limitations and unfortunately the D.A. would not be able to prosecute Scott Baio. However I also knew the importance of laying the groundwork for any future victims of Baio’s that may come forward and to warn parents who might unknowingly allow their children to be alone with this molester.”

Cynthia Nixon‘s run for the governor of New York suffered a major setback on Wednesday when she got trounced at the state Democratic convention. Incumbent governor Andrew Cuomo won more than 95 percent of the vote. The former Sex and the City star needed 25 percent of delegate votes to guarantee a spot on the primary ballot.  But Nixon still plans to run. “I’m not a protest candidate,” she tells the New York Daily News. “I’m a viable candidate who is really running hard for the Democratic nomination, and that’s why I’m here, to say this is my party, too, I’m not afraid and I’m here. You can’t shut me out.”

ABC has canceled The Chew after seven seasons. The daytime food show saw a big drop in the ratings since host Mario Batali was fired for alleged sexual harassment last fall. To fill the time, Good Morning America will expand to three hours.
