Alan Jackson’s son-in-law, Ben Selecman, has died. The 28-year-old was married to the singer’s daughter, Mattie.  Selecman died on Wednesday (Sept. 12) due to injuries sustained during a boating accident in Florida. He was the Assistant District Attorney for Davidson County in Tennessee.

HILARY DUFF SPARKS ENGAGEMENT RUMORS: Do you have something to tell us, Hilary Duff? The 30-year-old pregnant actress sparked engagement rumors with a selfie featuring a sparkler on that finger. She and Matthew Koma are expecting their first child together, and Duff shares Luca, 6, with her ex-husband Mike Comrie.

PROSECUTOR CLAIMS BILL COSBY IS TRYING TO STALL SENTENCING: Bill Cosby is doing everything he can to delay his upcoming sentencing, according to newly filed court papers seen by Page Six. The 81-year-old’s legal team asked Montgomery County Court Justice Steven O’Neill to step aside this week. (O’Neill declined the request). “Time has come for defendant to face the consequences of his crimes and misdeeds,” the motion reads. His sentencing is scheduled for September 24th. Cosby was convicted of three counts of aggravated indecent assault for molesting Andrea Constand in 2004.

JON HAMM WEIGHS IN ON BATMAN RUMORS: Sign him up! Jon Hamm was asked about portraying Batman, and he said that he’s game. “I’ve had rumors about that since probably – since season one of Mad Men,” he said. “I’ve never had a conversation with anybody about it. Literally. And I’ve sat in the rooms with all these guys.” Still, if the conversation were broached … “I’d probably fit the suit, you know? I have to – I’d have to work out a lot, which I don’t love.”

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Warner Bros. was ousting Henry Cavill from the role, but he cast doubt on the rumors with a post on Instagram that left most viewers scratching their heads. Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the text “Krypton Lifting Team,” the 35-year-old stares intensely at the camera, slowly raising and lowering a Superman action figure. “Today was exciting,” he captioned the video, adding “#Superman.” “Huh?” social media screamed in unison. Meanwhile, Cavill is now being suggested as the next James Bond.
