On November 8, it was revealed that the gameshow host underwent emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine. At the time, the upcoming Wheel of Fortune episode had to be abruptly canceled as the news was too sudden and no alternative plans had been made.

Vanna White filled in for him in his absence.

The Wheel of Fortune taping on Thursday was canceled because host Pat Sajak underwent successful emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine. He is resting comfortably and looking forward to getting back to work. Taping resumed today as scheduled and Vanna White has stepped in as host.
