The Norfolk SPCA has created an Emergency Pet Pantry. This effort will directly benefit families and their pets experiencing financial hardship.
“Help your community and neighbors in need by donating unopened pet food and treats to our Emergency Pet Pantry, open 9:00am – 4:30pm daily, at our Main Shelter located at 916 Ballentine Blvd. After-hours drop-offs may be placed at our front door.” encourages Executive Director, Kimberly Sherlaw.
Teams of volunteers will deliver pet food to families affected financially during the COVID-19 outbreak. Norfolk pet owners needing help can also utilize curbside service for pet pantry pick-up. Supply availability subject to change. In addition to private donors, generous sponsors of the Emergency Pet Pantry include: Care-A-Lot Pet Supply, Muddy Paws Pet Care Center, Petco located in Virginia Beach, and The Dogbone.
Delivery volunteers will be wearing a Norfolk SPCA Volunteer shirt and name tag for identification. You do not have to be present to receive food, and volunteers will not be entering homes. For families seeking assistance and questions, contact Tessa Slinn, Community Engagement & Communications Manager, at 757-622-3319, ext. 110 or [email protected].
“Our Emergency Pet Pantry is a temporary solution for the Norfolk community to rely on during this time of uncertainty. The Norfolk SPCA is sending a message of love and support to our city, we care about you and your pets.” shares Sherlaw
