Charlie Daniels passed away this morning (7/6) at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN from a hemorrhagic stroke. He was 83.
“The Devil Went Down to Georgia” was the Charlie Daniels Band’s most well-known song along with songs like “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Simple Man” and “Drinkin’ My Baby Good-Bye.”
Daniels joined the Grand Ole Opry in 2008, the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2009 and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
Daniels is survived by wife, Hazel, and son Charlie Daniels, Jr. Funeral details have not yet been made public.
