Furry Friday: 6-Year-Old Oxford is a Bloodhound Who Needs A Home.

6-year-old Oxford arrived at the Norfolk SPCA from a dedicated transfer partner in North Carolina.

A happy-go-lucky girl, Oxford quickly adjusted to her new surroundings.

After an evaluation by the Norfolk SPCA’s veterinary team, Oxford was found to be Heartworm and Ehrlichia positive. Ehrlichia is a chronic, tick-borne disease that causes inflammation in the joints.

Heartworms are treatable, and Ehrlichia is easily managed through regular veterinary care.

However, left untreated, both diseases are extremely painful, cause unnecessary suffering, and ultimately lead to death.

But because of the Norfolk SPCA’s HOPE Fund, Oxford will receive the extended treatment she needs at no cost to her future family. YOU can help us provide care for animals, like Oxford, who need it most.

Oxford is now ready to find her fur-ever home. She would be great in a family with kids and other dogs. She loves treats and will be highly trainable!

Oxford is ready to meet you at the Norfolk SPCA’s Adoption Center.

Open from 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM every Monday, and Wednesday – Sunday. Closed Tuesdays for animal enrichment and staff training. Visit us and see why Oxford will make a great addition to your family.
