Carrie Underwood was in attendance at the 2020 CMA Awards where she was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, which ultimately went to Eric Church.

As he walked to the stage to accept his award, the camera caught Carrie giving a wink…but to who?

Another fan wasn’t convinced it was for Eric.

I think she was winking to someone off to the side who gave her a look like “you were robbed” and her wink back was like “it’s ok, I’m ok” and she did her best to hold herself together despite the disappointment. Looked like a sad wink to me, IMO 😕

Some speculated it could have been for fellow nominee Miranda Lambert.

And I really think Carrie’s wink was towards Miranda saying “it’s fine, we’re both good”
