in 2015 Katy Perry played the halftime show at the Super Bowl and asked Dolly Parton to join her.  The last time a country artist performed at half-time was in 1994 when Travis Tritt performed with The Judds, Tanya Tucker and more.

In an interview with GQ they asked Dolly if it was true that she turned down the invite from Katy and she said yes!

“That is true. And I would have done it, because I love Katy Perry.”

“At the time my husband was not doing good,” she reveals. “He was kind of puny and I couldn’t leave him, so I couldn’t do it.”
