Charley Pride has died at the age of 86. A press release from Pride’s publicist said he passed away in Dallas, Texas due to complications from COVID-19
Last month, Charley was given the CMA’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. He performed “Kiss an Angel Good Morning’ with Jimmie Allen in what would be his final performance.
Country stars have taken to Twitter to pay their respects to the country legend.
I had the pleasure of meeting Charley Pride when I was playing the @opry. I was in awe of his presence and his talent. So saddened by the news of his passing. He was a true legend and trailblazer. His impact on our genre and generations of artists will never be forgotten. Rip
