Dan + Shay’s Dan Smyers and his wife Abby recently took in an underweight, 16-year-old chihuahua as a foster dog.
Dan shared in an Instagram post that they first saw her at Wags & Walks Rescue in Nashville and wanted to help.
“16 years old. emaciated. no teeth. etc. all alone and terrified at the shelter,” Smyers wrote. “We weren’t going to let her live the rest of her life like that. so much respect to my wonderful wife @abbysmyers, @kathrynhurley_, and @wagsandwalksnashville for pouring their hearts + souls into saving these poor animals every single day. we’re glad this tiny pup is safe now and finally getting to feel love (possibly for the first time).”
“She’s making great strides, and we even saw some tail wagging this afternoon,” he wrote. “Once she is healthy again, we’ll make sure she finds the perfect forever home. as always, please #adoptdontshop.”
