Carly Pearce Opens Up About Therapy After Divorce: ‘It’s OK to Not Be OK’

Carly Pearce says she has learned one big lesson over the past year: “It’s OK not to be OK.”

Following a divorce and the death of her producer she says she began to prioritize her health, mental wellness.

Carly told Prevention magazine, “Because of what I do for a living, I always have this mentality that the show must go on. I was really good at suppressing my feelings.”

She said she learned to open up with the help of a therapist. “I became more open in my daily life with talking about how I’m feeling and owning whatever emotion is coming up,” she says. “I think in the way you take care of your body, you have to take care of your mind—it’s a muscle as well.”

Carly also leaned on family and friends for support. “You just have to surround yourself with people who know you and love you,” she says. “It’s hard, when you’re in the public eye, to remember to not let all of the voices come in and know that you know the truth.”
