Chesapeake’s Dan Marshall’s American Idol Journey Ends with Kenny Chesney Cover

Chesapeake native and Virginia Tech alum Dan Marshall’s time on American Idol came to an end on Sunday (April 24th).

The former Hokies football player gave a rendition of Kenny Chesney’s “She’s Got It All” and received some encouraging words from mentor Gabby Barrett ahead of his performance.

Marshall admitted he was a little nervous to meet Gabby and that this is all new to him.

“We worked in a little spot where we could incorporate the audience [into the performance],” he said in a pre-taped interview before his live performance.

“They want to have that connection with you. So don’t be afraid to kind of be like, ‘C’mon! Let’s go!’” Gabby told the Idol hopeful.

Judges Lionel Ritchie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry praised his song choices and offered up some constructive criticism if he moved forward.

In the end, viewers did not vote him through to the next round but we’re so proud of Dan and can’t wait to see what’s next!
