Gwen Stefani’s Met Gala Dress Was Inspired by Blake Shelton

The 2022 Met Gala took place Monday (May 2) with a dress code of “Gilded Glamour.”

Stars hit the red carpet showing off their best glammed-up looks, including Gwen Stefani.  Wearing a neon green dress, Gwen lit up the festivities and she said the gown was inspired by her wedding dress.

“Vera called me to see if I wanted to come and be her date and of course I wanted to,” Stefani told Vogue‘s official red carpet livestream, according to People. “The thing is, she did my wedding dress. I got married this year so I just felt it was appropriate that I come to the ball and celebrate that … And all of the sudden we’re in neon!”

Although the dress was inspired by Blake, Gwen joked in 2019 that he will never be in attendance at the fashion-forward event.

Gwen also shared that she had a bit of a fashion emergency ahead of the gala.

According to People, the singer ended up doing her own makeup for the night. “Honestly, I had a crazy day because I was supposed to work with a new makeup artist … and she had an emergency and she had to leave so I had to do my own makeup!” she explained. “I had a lot of fun doing it today and it was stressful too but in a good way. I was like, ‘Alright, I got this.'”
