Miranda Lambert Reflects On Divorce from Blake Shelton in New Interview: “I Wasn’t Prepared for That”

Miranda Lambert sat down with CBS News to talk about the inspiration behind her new album, “Palomino,” and what she discovered about herself during the pandemic.

The “If I Was Cowboy” singer also discussed her ventures outside of music, including her bar in Nashville. “If the guys are smart, they’ll realize this is where the girls are,” she joked about Casa Rosa.  She also showed off her line of western wear, Idle Wind.

During the interview, CBS Correspondent Lee Cowan asked Miranda about her mindset now vs when they met in 2014. At that time, Miranda’s divorce from Blake Shelton was on the cover of every tabloid.

Miranda said, “I wasn’t prepared for that. Well, I don’t think anybody is. And it’s not nice sometimes.”

“I think you got to take it with a grain of salt and know that I’m a singer-songwriter so luckily I can tell my whole truth. I will not lie in my music,” she told Cowan.

“I’ve also grown up and I’ve learned a lot about myself and I think at some point you start to settle into who you are,” she shared. “I think that’s why you feel that peace coming from me, because I feel at peace with myself.”

She talked about meeting her now-husband, Brendan McLoughlin, whom she secretly married in 2019.

“It’s like some kind of Hallmark movie or something,” she joked. “The redneck from Texas meets this beautiful NYPD officer on the street in New York, but it actually happened that way.”
