Portsmouth Humane Society Offers “Field Trips” for Shelter Dogs

How do you celebrate your birthday as an adult? For my birthday this year, I decided to treat myself to the day off work…and treat a shelter dog to a field trip!

I picked up Brock from Portsmouth Humane Society to take part in their “Paws Around P-Town” program.

“Paws Around PTown” pairs members of the community with shelter dogs for field trips.

We decided to take Brock for a walk around Pagoda gardens.  He walks great on his leash and loved people-watching.  He was calm and gentle when approached by people wanting to pet him.

Next, we went to Doumar’s for a pup cream which he thoroughly enjoyed!

Finally, we went to Portsmouth City Park for some playtime and cuddles.

Shelter attendants told us that Brock has been a little depressed at the shelter and getting out for the day helped perk him up.  Look at that face…

Brock is up for adoption and would make a great addition to any family.  He is very cuddly and thinks he’s a lap dog (even at 50+ lbs).  He would love a home where he could snuggle on the couch with you and his favorite blanket.
