Shiflett’s Navy journey began in 1975 working at the shipyard in Newport News.

“After high school graduation, I started as an apprentice and later earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia,” said Shiflett. “My father (Elmer) and I always had a close relationship. He was a long-time government civil servant of 38 years before retiring. He encouraged me to accept a job working in the government, and that changed my life.”

Today, Shiflett serves as the command’s chief technology specialist department head at NECC.  Read more about his service to our country here.
