Tourist season in Virginia Beach may get a bump in 2023 thanks to a new article in Condé Nast Traveler which named the Hampton Roads’ destination as one of the “23 Best Places to Go in the Us in 2023.”

Virginia Beach made the magazine’s list of destinations along with Anchorage, Alaska; California’s Central Coast; New York’s Hudson Valley; Northern Michigan; and Scottsdale and East Valley, Arizona.

The outlet praised the “bustling three-mile boardwalk overlooking the shores of the Atlantic Ocean” and shared that “beaches aren’t the only reason to visit this resort city, which is home to everything from Chesapeake Bay blue crabs to hand-crafted spirits, as well as the colorful ViBE District and indelible historic sites,” contributor Taryn White wrote.

Annual events like the Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships, and Pharrell Williams’ Something in the Water Festival added to the city’s appeal.

To see how Virginia Beach stacks up against other places, Condé Nast Traveler’s full list of recommended U.S. destinations is available on its website.
