Gabby Barrett Explains Why Luke Combs Gave Her the Song He Wrote Instead of Recording It Himself

Gabby Barrett revealed more details about her upcoming sophomore album last weekend while performing at the Stagecoach Music Festival.

In an interview with ET, Gabby shared, “We’re almost finished with it. It should come out this year. Hopefully, early fall is the goal.”

She also offered more details about recording a new song written by Luke Combs.

“I was sitting in the bathtub one day when I heard my phone ding, and he had texted me to explain that this song was written with a couple of friends. It wasn’t going to work for him because he didn’t know if his wife, who was still pregnant at the time with their first baby, was having a girl or a boy. Come to find out, it was a boy, and this song was written more for a girl.”

Gabby appeared on Country Countdown USA back in January and told Lon Helton, “He was very adamant about the song and me recording it. I think it’s an awesome song, and it’s coming out this year.”

Gabby teased a portion of the song recently on Instagram.  Take a listen:

This isn’t the first song Luke has written for another artist.  He co-wrote “I Hope You’re Happy Now”  with Carly Pearce, along with two Zac Brown Band songs.
