The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry Releases “If I Die Young Pt. 2” {LISTEN}

Kimberly Perry, the lead singer of The Band Perry, is released her first single as a solo artist called “If I Die Young Pt. 2.”

The song is based on The Band Perry’s hit song “If I Die Young” and will be included on her forthcoming EP titled “Bloom,” set to release on June 9th.

Produced by Jimmy Robbins, the song offers a sound filled with nostalgia and features new verses that reveal Perry’s life experiences since writing the original song.

Perry also wrote the entire EP herself, which includes four other tracks, namely “Burn The House Down,” “Cry At Your Funeral,” “Ghosts,” and “Smoke ‘Em Too.”

IF I DIE YOUNG PT. 2 Kimberly Perry/Nicolle Galyon/Jimmy Robbins I put one hand in the airI’m closing my eyesMy whole heart’s beating for the very first timeThat boy here in town says ‘Darlin’ just drive’It’s like the gates of Heaven just opened up wideLord, I’m glad you didn’t pay me no attention  When I sent up a prayer of a child’s premonition Cause…I’ve had time to bloomPlantin’ them roses instead andI’m changing my tune since I saidIf I die youngBury me in satinLay me down on a bed of rosesSink me in the river at dawn Send me away with the words of a love songThe sharp knife of a short lifeNow I know there’s no such thing as enough timeI’m looking more like my motherI love her to the boneI know it’s gonna kill me on the day she goes homeI’ll pour some holy water on a daughter of my ownI’ll pass my name down ‘fore it’s on a headstone It was so dramaticBeautiful but tragic Throwing my emotions in a poem ‘bout a casket But…I’ve had time to bloomPlantin’ them roses instead andI’m changing my tune since I saidIf I die youngBury me in satinLay me down on a bed of rosesSink me in the river at dawn Send me away with the words of a love songThe sharp knife of a short lifeNow I know there’s no such thing as enough time  I’m so glad I’m here nowInstead of somewhere undergroundI think I’ll always wanna stayI guess it’s too late anyway To die youngBury me in satinLay me down on a bed of rosesSink me in the river at dawn Send me away with the words of a love songThe sharp knife of a short lifeNow I know there’s no such thing as enough timeSo put on your best boysAnd I’ll wear my pearls
