Caitlin Clark was just drafted #1 in the WNBA draft on Monday night after a historic college career at Iowa. She might be the biggest name in any sport right now, but even she was a bit starstruck when they showed her a video Luke Combs made for her.
Right after she was drafted, the WNBA showed her backstage standing next to a video monitor, and then Luke popped up with an encouraging message.
He said, “I just want to say congratulations on being the #1 pick in the WNBA draft. That’s incredible. I can speak for everybody all across the United States and the world probably . . . that we’ve enjoyed watching you these past couple years.”
Luke ended it by congratulating her again and saying, quote, “You earned it. Can’t wait to see you out there.”
Caitlin turned with a big smile and said, “Luke Combs! That’s my favorite artist of all-time . . . He’s a big women’s basketball fan, so I appreciate him. That’s amazing, I was not expecting that.”
