Animal shelters across the country right now are struggling. In 2021, shelters began filling back up as more animals were entering than leaving, and now many are packed to the brink. I recently joined the Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center (FNACC) board to help our local city shelter in Norfolk. Friends of NACC works to provide vital medical funds, subsidize adoption fees, fund spaying and neutering services, and operate a pet pantry for our Norfolk community!
In 2023, FNACC Golden Paws Adoption program helped 148 senior animals find a loving homes. We also distributed over 17,000 pounds of pet food to over 700 community members, providing for over 2,000 animals. FNACC funded crucial medical procedures and special medications for 118 animals, totaling $22,500. This included blood panels, diagnostic tests, mass removals, amputations, eye surgeries, and more. We also facilitated over 200 cat spay and neuters, over 100 dog spay and neuters, 254 rabies vaccinations, and 277 microchips through our Spay and Neuter Program.

8 am – 9 am (The Get Up and Give Challenge): Donations to FNACC will be matched during this hour, up to $1,000!

11:11 am (The One Minute Match): Donations made to individual fundraisers at 11:11 am will be matched up to $100 while the match remains! Plus, an anonymous FNACC donor will also match gifts $1:$1 up to $500!

4 pm – 6 pm (Happy Hour Challenge): Donations to FNACC will be matched up to $500!
