Norfolk Animal Care Center at Capacity, Dog Fosters Needed
May 9, 2025
Norfolk Animal Care Center is at capacity and dog fosters are urgently needed.
By fostering a dog from NACC, you help create space in the shelter to accommodate emergencies that come into the shelter. Foster dogs also provide great companionship and purpose – your act of kindness is repaid in rewards that are beyond words! Foster families also help collect behavior information, pictures and other valuable information to help find a forever home for a dog.
Can’t foster long-term? Have a NACC Slumber Pack! Host a sleepover and weekend foster visits for Norfolk Animal Care Center dogs. Anyone (18 years+) can “check out” a dog for up to 72 hours. Those who discover they need a bit more snuggle time can transition into the shelter’s medium/large dog foster program.
Can you imagine spending your days in a loud, stressful kennel? Even the sweetest dogs can struggle in that environment—so giving them a break from the shelter can do wonders for their spirit and help them shine.
That’s exactly what Roxy needs. I first met her back in March at Norfolk Animal Care Center, and it breaks my heart that she’s still waiting for a loving home. Now one of the shelter’s longest residents, Roxy’s adoption fee is fully sponsored by Friends of NACC.
She’s 9 years old, house-trained, and gentle—and she firmly believes her rightful place is in bed with her people. Her former foster family described her as a low-energy cuddlebug who lives for treats, short games of fetch, and long naps. She’s ready to bring joy to a home—could it be yours?
