Dylan Marlowe And Conner Smith Imagine Heaven As A Small Town In ‘Country In The Clouds’

After wrapping up a successful co-headlining tour, Dylan Marlowe and Conner Smith have teamed up once again  — this time for the release of their highly-anticipated duet, “Country In The Clouds.”

Written by Marlowe with Zach Abend, Brent Anderson, David Medlin, and Jameson Rodgers, and produced by Joe Fox, this rural-focused, spiritually-leaning track finds both artists imagining what life would be like in the pearly gates of heaven. Sharing their deep appreciation for the pleasant aspects of country life, they express their vision of paradise to include everything from a deer stand to a dog in the yard to catfish in the river to “A winding gravel driveway to my mansion in the sky.”

“Yeah, I hope there’s country in the clouds / I hope my side of heaven feels just like a little town / When it’s my time and they lay me down / The good ole boy in me just hopes / There’s country in the clouds, hallelujah,” they sing, showcasing their down-to-earth vocals throughout the chorus of the song.

Sonically, “Country In The Clouds” features a stripped-back, downhome vibe with a blend of acoustic instruments driving the melody. An official music for the collaboration puts those instruments on full display as Marlowe and Smith strum on acoustic guitars while accompanied by mandolin and dobro players and a drummer.

“Everything about this song feels special to Dylan and I. The message in it, the writers on it, the reaction from the fans, and of course that we get to do it together,”  Smith exclusively tells Country Now of “Country In The Clouds.” I couldn’t think of a better song for us to finally make a duet out of.”

“Country In The Clouds” enjoyed quite a journey leading up to its official release, with both artists teasing the song as their own on their respective social media pages. Those actions led to a hilarious make-believe dispute between the two about who is the rightful owner of “Country In The Clouds” and who should be the one to put it out. After putting the fate in the hands of their TikTok followers, letting them choose between their separate versions of the song, Marlowe and Smith settled on the best option — to release “Country In The Clouds” as a duet.

“Country In The Clouds” comes after Marlowe and Smith’s joint “Did We Just Become Best Friends? Tour, where fans got an early listen of the song, ahead of its release. The brief six-date trek which ran from April 2 to April 12 included stops in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida and featured openers Hannah McFarland and Cole Goodwin.

“It’s been awesome to see the great response to ‘Country In The Clouds’ being out!” Marlowe said. “Conner and I loved performing this one together live when we were out on the road, so to have finally have it out in the world is cool. Hope y’all love it!”

“Country In The Clouds” follows Marlowe’s recent songs “Picture Perfect” and “Boys Back Home” with Dylan Scott. The latter of the two tracks serves as his first No. 1 single on country radio, appearing on his debut album, Mid-Twenties Crisis. Marlowe has a busy summer ahead, as he will perform on the Chevy Riverfront Stage at CMAFest. In June, he will take the road as an opener for Bailey Zimmerman’s New To Country Summer Tour.

As for Smith, the artist has a packed schedule of shows for the remainder of 2025 after coming off of a strong and ambitious 2024, which included an ACM nomination for New Male Artist of the Year, his debut album Smoky Mountains, a follow-up EP, and an impressive headlining run of his The Storyteller Tour.
