Jelly Roll And Luke Bryan Bring Shocking Tour Confessions To ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’

Jelly Roll and Luke Bryan recently appeared on an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show to discuss their respective careers. In addition to their individual interviews, the pair teamed up for a lighthearted round of rapid-fire questions. Both times Jelly Roll was on the couch, he opened up about his personal life and his musical journey— including one hilarious on-stage moment.

The show’s host, Jennifer Hudson started off with a simple question that earned a response she and the live audience were not expecting. She asked the pair, “What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you while performing?”

Jelly Roll was first to answer. “I pooped myself one time,” he blurted out.

That very honest response left Hudson, Bryan, and the whole audience looking totally shocked.

“I did. I’m sorry. Listen, it was what they call a…,” he went on to say, followed by a word that was bleeped out. “I was confident it was all there. It was not.”

At this point, Bryan was laughing so hard he nearly fell out of his seat. Her chimed in to say, “Well they say never trust one.”

A look of realization suddenly washed over Jelly Roll’s face as he gazed into the audience and noticed the surprised faces.

“I watched this crowd go from loving me to just being completely out,” he joked.

“That’s why we love him right there,” Bryan noted.

Jelly Roll owned up to the fact that he had once again “overshared” in an interview.

Hudson then turned the attention back to Bryan, asking him how he was going to top that answer. Of course, being the person he is, Bryan was ready with a witty response.

“My problem with, I didn’t really get embarrassed about it when I did it,” he said, igniting another round of laughter from the crowd.

On a more serious note, Jelly Roll had a lot more to discuss than just his bathroom incident. In another clip, he was seen talking about his journey to success as a country star, his relationship with his faith, his deep-rooted love for songwriting and his current role on American Idol.

While speaking on the role faith plays in his life, Jelly Roll revealed that he has been “called to be shameless about it.” Because despite the actions of his past that resulted in him spending time behind bars, he still feels that his faith “is nothing short of everything in my life.”

“He’s done so much for me, even when I didn’t deserve it, I’ve actually done the opposite of being deserving of his grace. I’ve done everything I could to spit in his face and not get his grace, And he continued to just pour it on me and love on me in times where I felt unlovable and he taught me to love myself.”

By strengthening his relationship with faith, Jelly Roll has found himself guided to do some incredible work within his community. He’s done so by going back to jails and performing for inmates and preaching the importance of music inside those walls. However, Jelly Roll didn’t stop with his community, he went way beyond that with his new gig as American Idol’s first-ever Artist in Residence. This job allows him to impact a whole new crop of people with the unique experiences he’s had and the lessons he’s learned along the way.

“It’s cool. I’m actually the first artist in residence in American Idol history and…just how I got on your show by just being a fan of yours and begging you, letting me on your show, I got to do a mentoring session at American Idol last season and I harassed production when I left. I was like, I need to do this full time. I was like, I need to come back every year and work with these kids. I call ’em my little Jelly Babies. I love ’em all Jelly Babies,” he shared.

On top of enjoying every minute of working with the contestants, the “Save Me” singer reveals how much fun he’s having with this season’s judges – Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

“Carrie Underwood is absolutely killing it. I was such a fan of Katie [Perry] on that show. That was such a big seat to fill and Carrie is killing it,” he gushed.

The Tennessee native continued to sing the same kind of praises for Luke and Lionel, who he says often act like “brothers.”

“It’s the funniest. They’re as funny off camera as they are on camera. They’re a hoot and a holler all the time. Luke also deeper than just American Idol. He has been nothing short of a mentor to me. Luke is, I wish more established artists had the mentality Luke has of just wanting to help people. He has no ego. He’ll show up for you. In any capacity, he can show up for you. Luke has a servant’s heart man, and you see that on the show, dude. He’s there trying to help these kids as much as I am. So getting to work with them judges and getting to fire these kids up and get ’em excited. I mean, we got some talent this year.”

Jelly Roll, who is currently vying for ACM entertainer of the Year, can be found using his talent to guide this seasons competitors every Sunday and Monday night on ABC. Additionally, he will be joining Post Malone on The BIG ASS Stadium Tour and make his way throughout Canada this spring.
