Jordan Davis Talks Returning To His Roots For Upcoming Album And Preparing For Baby No. 4

Jordan Davis has his hands full with big things happening both at home and in his career right now.

At the end of January, the country singer and his wife, Kristen announced that they are expecting their fourth baby who will make them a family of six this June. While discussing this next chapter with Audacy’s Katie Neal, Davis revealed that for the most part, his three children are “pumped” about the new member joining their family.

He explained that his youngest boys, Locklan Joseph (3) and Elijah Patrick, born in June 2023, aren’t quite grasping what’s happening, but his daughter, Eloise Larkin (5), is so excited that she wants the new baby to share her name.

“She’s been wanting another girl. She’s actually wanting another girl named Eloise,” he shared with a smile.

For their fourth baby, the parents have decided not to find out the gender of the baby until he or she is born. They are also cutting back on the amount of renovating that they have done in their past nurseries.

“That happened when Pops was on the road. I got back and I was like, ‘this nursery’s amazing, babe.’ And then I realized why was amazing. Because it wasn’t cheap,” Davis joked. “We’ve got to find a place to put this baby. We’re running out of rooms.”

Searching For Baby Names

Another item on their agenda is to come up with a list of possible baby names for their little one. Davis explained they have “a few that we were kind of kicking around,” some of which were leftover options from their previous children. Before even having their first child, Davis revealed how Kristen was set on the fact that if they had a daughter, she would be named Eloise. “She was like, ‘that’s a deal breaker.’” Since then, Davis says they worked together to come up with the remainder of their children’s names.

The “Buy Dirt” singer broke the news of the pregnancy on Wednesday, January 29, using a hilarious video that was captured during his trip down under while serving as direct support for Luke Combs in New Zealand and Australia.

He was seen standing on the edge of a clear blue pool along a scenic waterway, drinking a cold one while reflecting on the fact that he’s about to be a dad of four. Davis’ voice then comes into the clip as a narrator as the theme song to the early ‘90s sitcom Full House plays in the background.

“Well this is a dude…Well, a dad. Three beautiful children,” he began. “What’s better than three is four. That’s where we’re going to be at come June. Baby Davis number four. Look out.”

He also made sure to give fans a realistic look into moments that capture the joys of fatherhood, like crying children and toys slamming into things.

In conclusion, he predicted that “2025 is going to be a big one, mainly because we’re welcoming a brand-new baby” and added he is “Pumped to meet you, baby Davis.”

New Album In The Works

As Jordan Davis prepares to welcome their soon-to-be newest family member, he’s also facing some big decisions of his own with his next album. He previously revealed that the project is done and now, he is excited for the moment he can finally show fans the music he’s been working so hard on. Davis told Katie Neal all about the different approach he took with this record and the inspiration he took from the sounds of his first album, “Home State” that allowed him to “reinvent” his music.

“It feels good. I’m proud of it. It’s one of the things where this last record, Bluebird Days, was pretty personal and I had an idea of what I wanted to do with it and wrote about some things that never thought I’d kind of cover. And then I think outside of that, once that was out and done and you kind of start working on the next project, I kind of felt like I was just kind of doing the same thing and kind had to regroup and change my approach to it. And now I think we’ve landed in a great spot of just trying to go back to what we were doing early on,” he shared.

“My first record, Home State, is one that is still one of my favorites, and me and Paul (DiGiovanni) just kind talked about what if we kind revisit the Home State feel and sounds where you’re at now in your career, coming up on 10 years later. So it’s been kind of cool to go back and give Home State a facelift.”

Many of these upcoming releases were penned during writers retreats across Montana, Nashville and Florida. During these writing sessions, the Louisiana native says he would dive into the music of artists like Marcus King and Amos Lee and pull inspiration from their sounds.

“I’m a huge Marcus King fan. So we did one in Florida where I just listened to pretty much everything Marcus King’s ever put out and kind of went down there with that in mind, it is been really cool to see the sounds and the songs that came out of those. Amos Lee is one that I’ve always been a fan of, so it was just a cool different way to go make a record,” he explained.

Fans can also expect to hear Davis take some risks as he leans into his Louisiana roots more than ever and hones into that “rootsy kind of bluesy” tone that he’s always been drawn to.

“I don’t know if this is the best music. I know that I am proud of the songs we put together,” he stated. “I’m proud of some of the risks we took on some of these songs and now it’s kind of put it out and see how it goes.”
