LeAnn Rimes’ Teeth Fell Out Mid-Performance, And She Handled It Like a Pro

LeAnn Rimes experienced a career first over the weekend when her dental bridge fell out mid-performance, and like a true professional, she handled it with total grace.

On Saturday, the two-time GRAMMY winner took to social media to “do a little story time” and recalled the moment her teeth literally fell out in the middle of her performance.

“So last night I was on stage in the middle of ‘One Way Ticket.’ I feel something pop in my mouth. And if you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries and I have a bridge in the front,” she said. “It fell out in the middle of my song last night, to which I panicked and in the middle said, ‘Hold on’ and ran to the side of the stage and put it back in, popped it back in, and then just went on singing.”

At this moment, the powerhouse vocalist realized that she had to “get real” with the audience and let them in on what happened.

“So for the rest of the show, I was literally…pushing my teeth in every couple lines and singing,” she laughed.

Making the most out of a less than desirable situation, Rimes joked that this made her realize how difficult it became to sing clearly saying, “Which, by the way, I never knew how many F’s and Th’s and Sh’s and that I have in my songs!”

She shared that her teeth came out mid-performance while singing “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” and called it “the most epic experience ever.”

As someone who began performing to a national audience at the age of just 13, Rimes has experienced a lot, but not this.

“I don’t usually have firsts in my career,” she admitted. “That was a first and hopefully a last. I hope my teeth stay in tonight. We shall see the front row, get ready for something to fly out! If you catch them, please return them.”

In closing, Rimes admitted that she hopes this story well save other artists and performers who may happen to experience a similar situation in the future.

“Like I said, there wasn’t a fu**ing thing I can do about it except either walk off or just to hold my teeth in and sing. So I just ran with it. In case anybody has an issue on stage ever and feels embarrassed by it, just watch this video again and remind you that the show can go on even in the midst of sheer utter embarrassment. You just got to be real with people.”

With a break between tour dates, Rimes will hopefully have time to get her bridge repaired. Her next scheduled performance is on July 12 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
