Luke Bryan Hilariously Responds To Being Mistaken For Blake Shelton

Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton have been known to take friendly jabs at each other any chance they get, which made it that much funnier when Bryan revealed he was recently mistaken for his fellow country superstar.

While out on a fishing trip with his son, Tate, Bryan filmed a video for social media that found him recapping the hilarious moment that had just taken place between him and a stranger at a gas station.

“So story of the day, me and Tate we’re fishing and stopped by to get some snacks from a gas station. This kind of big guy tatted up, he’s just staring me down. I’m like, oh yeah, he recognizes me,” he began.

While the Georgia native obviously was under the impression that the man had recognized him as himself, Luke Bryan, it turns out he was confusing him with another well-known name in the country music scene – Blake Shelton.

“I walk up to the counter, he goes, man, ‘God, dude, you look just like Blake Shelton. You’re not Blake Shelton are you?’ And I said, ‘I’m not Blake Shelton.’ He goes, ‘you’ve got to get that all the time.’ I was like, ‘every now and then I get it.’ But he goes, ‘well, you’re his doppelganger and I mean, you know, who he is. He’s on that TV show.’ I said, ‘yeah, I know who he is.’

Bryan definitely got a kick out of playing along with the situation, but the best part came at the end when the man finished off their conversation by saying, “Could you imagine what it would be like to have Blake Shelton’s money?”

The “Mind of A Country Boy” singer let out a laugh before ending the video.

His caption poked further fun at the mistake as he wrote, “Identity theft is not a joke @blakeshelton.”

Blake Shelton has yet to comment on the video, but fans are already eager to hear what his response will be, knowing the lighthearted rivalry that lies between them.

The pair have been friends for over a decade and their playful feud dates back to at least 2018 when Bryan stated that the only reason Shelton had found success was because of his girlfriend at the time, Gwen Stefani.

Since then, they’ve continued to find new ways to troll each other about just about everything.  They’ve been caught taking jabs at each other about their music careers, their rival shows, American Idol and The Voice, their bars on Broadway, Luke’s 32 Bridge and Ole Red, and even their farming.

Shelton previously told CMT that anyone wearing Luke Bryan merch will not be welcome at any of his Ole Red establishments, to which Bryan replied, “well I’ll just invite those fans to come over to 32 Bridge.”

During another interview with host of the CMT Hot Twenty, Cody Alan, Shelton discussed the “bro era” of country music which prominently featured both himself and Luke Bryan.

“Luke and I believe the bro country thing has kind of left us high and dry, we don’t know what to now,” he joked before adding, “Luke is the god father of bro country music, and we all know how people don’t like that anymore and that’s probably the reason they don’t like Luke a much as they used to…he’s in a way tougher spot than I am in terms of knowing what to do next. Maybe he shouldn’t do anything next and do us all a solid,” Shelton added.

It’s important to know that it’s all in good fun and that the pair of award-winning acts actually hold a deep respect for one another.

Bryan and Shelton have yet to record a song together, but they have teamed up to perform on a number of occasions, including at the 2016 ACM when they united to sing a collaborative rendition of Bryan’s song “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”
