Gabby Barrett Leads 2021 Billboard Music Award Nominations

Nominations for the 2021 Billboard Music Awards were announced on Thursday, April 29th and Gabby Barrett is the most nominated female artist with nine nods!  The new country star is up for Overall Top New Artist as well as Top Country Artist and Top Country Female Artist.  Her huge hit “I Hope” also received multiple nominations.

Carrie Underwood received her first nomination as Top Christian Artist following the release of her first gospel album.  She is also nominated for Top Country Female Artist.

Morgan Wallen earned six nominations but don’t expect to see him at the show. Dick Clark productions issued a statement saying:

“Morgan Wallen is a finalist this year based on charting. As his recent conduct does not align with our core values, we will not be including him on the show in any capacity (performing, presenting, accepting).

“It is heartening and encouraging to hear that Morgan is taking steps in his anti-racist journey and starting to do some meaningful work. We plan to evaluate his progress and will consider his participation in future shows.”

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will air live on Sunday, May 23 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC.
