Maren Morris Opens Up About Postpartum Depression; How Ryan Hurd Helped Diagnose Her

Maren Morris is keeping in real on social media.  The singer recently shared a body-positive message to fans in a selfie saying, “In this house we stan mom bellies.”

In another post, she shared two side by side photos showing the difference between camera angles. Sharing the same photos on her Instagram Story, Maren wrote, “Real talk it’s all about the angles.”

Now the “Circles Around This Town” singer is opening up about experiencing postpartum depression following the birth of her son, Hayes, in March 2020.

In the new issue of PEOPLE, Maren says that her husband, fellow country singer Ryan Hurd, helped her realize that she needed help.

“I do check-ins all the time [with] therapy, which I’ve done for years, and my husband was a huge help diagnosing that too,” she tells the outlet. “Sometimes it’s just someone really close to you saying, ‘Are you OK?’ It’s so simple, but it kind of snaps you out of whatever fog you’re in that you think is normal, but isn’t.”

She talked about the importance of prioritizing your mental health, especially after living through a pandemic the past two years.

“I just think there’s not a stigma as much around talking about it and reaching out for help. It’s been such an amazing thing to know that I haven’t been alone in this, that other women have all been dealing with the same exact fears and anxieties; even just knowing that if I wake up in the middle of the night with a panic attack, I know that I’m not the only one.”

Maren’s new album Humble Quest hits stores Friday, March 25th and she will celebrate with a free livestream concert on Amazon Prime Saturday.
