Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, and Cody Johnson Win Big at 2022 CMT Awards


The 2022 CMT Music Awards made its major network debut on Monday night, live on CBS from Nashville.

Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, and Cody Johnson were the big winners of the night. Jason and Carrie picked up two CMT buckles — Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year for “If I Didn’t Love You.”

Cody also grabbed two awards — Male Video of the Year for “Til You Can’t” and CMT Digital First Performance for “Dear Rodeo.”

George Strait won his very first CMT Award for Performance Video of the Year for his tribute to Charley Pride. In a special moment, Maddie Font of Maddie and Tae gave an emotional acceptance speech for winning Duo/Group Video of the Year, while her partner, Taylor Kerr appeared from her home cuddling her newborn daughter, Leighton.

The fan-voted award show was hosted in person by Kane Brown and Anthony Mackie. While Kelsea Ballerini, who tested positive for COVID-19, co-hosted the show and performed from her home.
