Guyton, who appeared on last year’s special as a performer, tells PEOPLE, “It is absolutely a real honor.”
“I just hope to bring fun and happiness to everybody, at home, at this event,” she continued. “To be asked to host such an event as this, in a really trying time in our country, I just feel like it could be a huge opportunity to try and encourage more togetherness in this time.”
The show will include performances from Jake Owen, pop star Andy Grammar, Darren Criss, and more.
Most artists would be thrilled with a #1 single. @JakeOwen has nine and shows no signs of slowing down. He's not only a formidable talent but a reminder of the very definition of freedom, and we're excited to welcome him to A Capitol Fourth. #July4thPBS pic.twitter.com/3ijoZ1GXM2
