Keith Urban has turned 2025 into the year of fresh starts — with a brand-new tour, new music, a revamped production, and even a few new faces in his band. In January, it was revealed that he had decided to part ways with three of his bandmates. Now, Urban is reflecting on the reason behind this major change in his touring band.

Among the musicians who closed their chapter with the “Straight Line” singer are GRAMMY nominated drummer Terence F. Clark, lead guitar player, backup singer, and keyboard player Nathan Barlowe, and guitar player and band leader for over 25 years, Jerry Flowers.
While it was certainly a bittersweet goodbye for Urban, he says his intuition told him it was time to switch things up a bit.
“It feels really good. I’ve always followed the inner voice that says it’s time to make a change in any area of my life and sort of just take the leap,” he told Country Now and other media outlets.
He admits that much like when he’s performing live on stage, he doesn’t always know where his decision will take him, but he’s willing to make the jump and find out.
“I don’t always know what I’m going to do next. And there’s something exhilarating about living that way and about performing that way. So again, we’ve been really lucky with this band,” Urban added.
The Australian singer/songwriter and his new band have already started to find their groove on stage while putting on their first set of performances together during Urban’s five-show run in Las Vegas this past February. These shows esentially acted as their “rehearsals” before hitting the road for his first full headline tour in three years.
“I’m really looking forward to getting out with the new band, new songs, new production, new everything,” he further emphasized.
Upon announcing their departures from the band on social media, Flowers, Clark and Barlowe each took a moment to thank Keith Urban for the time they spent together on stage and expressed hopefulness for whatever future opportunities may come their way.
For someone who is so intensely fueled by the rush of performing live, three years off the road is a particularly long break. Unfortunately, this hiatus was necessary as it allotted him the extra time to work on his latest album, HIGH. Urban says he is so ready to get back to the road that he feels like “a racehorse just sort of at the starting gate, just kicking at the stalls, trying to get out.”

Named after Urban’s 11th studio album, the High and Alive World Tour is set to kick off May 22 in Orange Beach, AL and continue through October 17, when he will close with a stop at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
Then, he will launch the Australian leg on August 13 with stops across Brisbane, Wollongong, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Chase Matthew, Alana Springsteen and Karley Scott Collins will serve as support on select dates.
