A lawsuit over the degradation of homes built in an area of New Orleans slammed by Hurricane Katrina is headed Brad Pitt’s way, according to an Associated Press report. The lawsuit filed against Pitt’s Make It Right foundation will be filed on behalf of Lower Ninth Ward residents hired by attorney Ron Austin. Plaintiffs are reporting sickness, headaches and structural issues. Pitt formed Make it Right in 2007, two years after Katrina destroyed what would become an enclave the foundation built up again. 150 avant-garde homes that were storm-safe, solar-powered and green were planned beginning in 2008. The average price was $150K. Flash forward a decade and $26 million later, construction has stopped with 110 homes built, many of which are falling apart.
The last of four hackers who leaked private nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and other female stars in 2014 was sentenced to eight months in prison, according to the United States Attorney’s Office in the District of Connecticut. George Garofano, 26, pleaded guilty in April to a phishing scheme that ultimately garnered private photographs and videos of Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsten Dunst, Meagan Good and many more. Their photographs and videos were then dispersed online.
Heather Locklear was hit with three new charges yesterday stemming from her June arrest in which she assaulted a police officer and an EMT. The troubled actress is now charged with interfering with a law enforcement officer and two counts of battery. She was arrested after a June incident in which the heavily intoxicated Locklear attacked an officer and EMT as they tried to load her onto a gurney. She had already been charged with five criminal counts from a previous arrest in February when she got into a fight with her boyfriend and attacked the responding officer. Also in June, Locklear was sent to a psychiatric hospital after she allegedly choked her father and hit her mother. She then entered a rehab facility for substance abuse.
French actor Gérard Depardieu has been accused of rape and sexual assault. A 22-year-old unnamed woman filed a criminal complaint against the 69-year-old, claiming the attack occurred on August 7th and then August 13th again, according to reports. Depardieu denies the allegations. The alleged attacks happened in his home. The unnamed woman is an actress and dancer he knows, and he was allegedly giving her professional advice. He’s best known in the U.S. for being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for 1990’s Cyrano de Bergerac.
