Blind Double Amputee Veteran Honors Toby Keith

Toby Keith was selected the 2018 recipient of the Harmony Award from the Nashville Symphony, which recognizes an individual who exemplifies the harmonious spirit of Nashville’s musical community.

In an emotional post United States Marine, Iraq War Veteran and Blind Double Amputee surprised Toby to help present the award.

He wrote, “Last night, Amanda and I attended a black tie event at the Nashville Symphony to present Toby Keith with the Harmony Award…

I began thinking about what I’d say and reflecting on my adult life. I thought about how I basically started over after my injury in 2007…It’s been tough and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but how did I get here? A small town kid is now presenting one of the most significant awards to a mega superstar.

The life I live today, with no legs or vision definitely wasn’t scripted but hey, God places you in unique positions. You must prove to him, as well as yourself, you can and will persevere. I am extremely blessed with this opportunity and thankful Amanda and I have Toby and his crew as friends.

These are cherished memories that are completely unforgettable. I’m no one special and I will never forget where or how I grew up. My life experiences have humbled me, strengthened me and allowed me to truly appreciate all these blessings. Thanks to all who’ve been there with me and a very special thanks to Toby’s team. I am so blessed to know Toby… it’s hard to believe we’ve been friends for seven years.”

#Repost @m_bradford_usmc ・・・ Last night, Amanda and I attended a black tie event at the Nashville Symphony to present Toby Keith with the Harmony Award. A month ago, Toby’s team reached out to me to see if I was interested in sharing a few stories, not to mention, I was a surprise and Toby had no clue. I of course accepted, yet as the minutes dwindled down, I began getting more nervous, which is rare. I began thinking about what I’d say and reflecting on my adult life. I thought about how I basically started over after my injury in 2007. I thought about how we were constantly on the move, never staying put more than 3 years, until we had our home built in 2013. It’s been tough and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, but how did I get here? A small town kid is now presenting one of the most significant awards to a mega superstar.
