How To Stroke A Cat, According To Science {PICS}

My husband and I were sitting together this weekend scrolling through our phones (like old married couples do) when he showed me this

How To Pet A Cat from r/coolguides

Do you agree?

Our cat Hobbes LOVES his paws being scratched.  He also wants his belly rubbed…for about a minute and then it turns into play time.

Louie on the other hand is hands off when it comes to his mittens.

But sometimes I just can’t resist!!  I mean look at them 🙂 Luckily his only reaction is to give me the side eye.

If you have a cat that isn’t as open to petting as mine, here are a few tips:

  • To pet a cat correctly looks for signs the cat wants to be touched at all.
  • Pay close attention to the cat’s behaviour and posture during interactions, to ensure they are comfortable.
  • When it comes to touch, less is often more.
  • Most friendly cats will enjoy being touched around the regions where their facial glands are located, including the base of their ears, under their chin, and around their cheeks. These places are usually preferred over areas such as their tummy, back and base of their tail.

    Happy Petting!
