For BCA Month: A Message From My Sister

I schedule my mammogram every October. I don’t ever forget it because it’s BCA month, my sister Ginni’s birth month…plus, she was always on my back to never forget to do it. HAHA! Seriously, she was on my back. She loved me…and whenever I do it, I always think of her…nagging me. 😂😍 God, I love her and miss her so much!

So, I thought I would share a little bit of her with you right now. This is just a small excerpt from her blog written in October of 2000:

“In case you were not aware, it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The push for a mammogram is everywhere. Can you stand another push?
The American Cancer Society provides a great explanation about mammography, the exam, tips and what to expect. Check it out if you have not already done so. I know, I know,……you are thinking, “hey wait, YOUR tumor did not show up on a mammogram.” Ok, so you got me and you are soooo right, HOWEVER, I am not the norm and neither are you. In my NON medical opinion, there is NO norm. Besides, mammography is a good diagnostic tool, however not the ONLY tool in gauging breast health. Your doctor will know more….why not call and make that appointment now?
I sound like a soundbite, huh? Just wait till next month ….. ELECTION month. Whoooohoooo!”

So, now she’s nagging you too. 😂 You’re welcome. But seriously, have you scheduled yours?

We also invite you to join us for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Walks: Sunday, October 13th At Christopher Newport University in Newport News and on Saturday, October 26th at Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach! Hope to see you there! – KW
