Easy DIY Ugly Christmas Sweater {PICS}

Friday December 20th is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day!

Last year I made this for the office Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and won first place.

I hand painted the bricks on.  Cut and sewed the fireplace.  Sewed on the tinsel fireplace mantel and the stockings hanging from it.

I didn’t have as much time this year so I decided to go a little more simple.

I went to Goodwill first to grab a red sweater than raided the Dollar Store for supplies.

Here’s what I came up with:

My supplies included a felt Elf, hand held mirror, Elf door hanger, pom poms, green diamond stickers and rope tinsel.

I sewed the felt Elf onto the middle then cut up the door hanger and sewed that to the bottom.  Next, I sewed the pom poms around the top and tinsel to make the arrow. Then I finished with the green diamond stickers I hoped looked like Elf ears.

Now here’s the fun part…

When my boss commented on my sweater I told him to look in the mirror and said “Yeah it’s the ugliest sweater, right?”

Luckily, I wasn’t fired 🙂

But I didn’t win (he was on the judging panel after all)

Meghan won with her one of a kind unicorn ugly sweater and wears the tinsel crown for Ugliest Christmas Sweater this year…literally!
