Healthcare Workers Invited to the ACMs; Alcohol Isn’t. Here Are the Safety Precautions Being Implemented

The ACM Awards are Sunday, April 18th and the show is taking every precaution to keep everyone safe.

Just days ahead of the show Luke Bryan announced that he tested positive for COVID-19.

Academy of Country Music CEO Damon Whiteside told the Country Music Media Podcast, “We’re] just taking every possible safety precaution.”  That includes not allowing alcohol inside the awards show’s venues. “There’s not gonna be alcohol at all this year, probably much to the artists’ chagrin;”  however, “the artists will all have their buses,” where drinks can flow freely.

Never forget this moment when Miranda whipped out a flask at an awards show.

In a moment of irony, Miranda Lambert and Elle King will open the show with “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home).”

As in the case of the Golden Globes, The ACMS has invited vaccinated healthcare workers to be in the audience in lieu of the usual sea of artists, their friends and family, and members of the media.

Artists will be able to sit in the crowd when the categories they are nominated for are announced.
