Darius Rucker, Jimmie Allen, and more will perform during this Saturday on ‘Juneteenth Unityfest,’ a national livestream event that will bring together people of all backgrounds in a day of unity to commemorate and celebrate Juneteenth with musical performances, inspiring remarks, films, comedy, storytelling, and appearances by civic leaders and influencers.
Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union Army General Gordon Granger proclaimed freedom from slavery in the state of Texas, nearly two years after the Emancipation Proclamation
