Matt Amodio’s “Jeopardy!” Run Ends After 38 Wins

Matt Amodio’s winning streak on “Jeopardy!” has come to an end after 38 consecutive wins.

He now has the second-longest winning streak in the show’s history. Overall, Matt has earned a little over $1.5 million.  This puts him at third place behind Ken Jennings at $2.5 million and James Holzhaur at $2.4 million.  Jennings is still king of the mountain with 74 wins.  Holzhauer made it to 32 wins.

Matt said, “I always wanted to be a ‘Jeopardy!’ champion, and I accomplished that.  l know going into every bar trivia game that I’m going to come in with a little intimidation factor.  But also, I just like the badge that it represents.”

He came in third place last night, after failing to find the Daily Doubles and answering the Final “Jeopardy!” clue incorrectly.

The clue was . . . Nazi Germany annexed this nation and divided it into regions of the Alps and the Danube; the Allies later divided it into four sectors.  The correct answer was, quote, “What is Austria?” . . . but Matt answered “Poland”.

Past Jeopardy! contestants took to Twitter to congratulate Matt on his run.
