Brett Young Has Given Up the Battle Over His Daughter’s Ugly Shoes

Every parent knows there comes a time when you have to pick your battles with your kids, and one they usually decide is not worth fighting is about the way their kids want to dress, or what they want to wear.

For Brett Young, one such battle came in the form of a certain pair of shoes his two-year-old daughter absolutely loves.  “Presley, our oldest, has a pair of shoes that I just… I don’t know who gave ‘em to us,” says Brett.  “They were like one of those gifts that came without a note, and so I don’t even feel bad saying this. They’re so ugly. I hate them so much.”

As much as Brett hates the shoes and wishes they would disappear, he says, “They’re Presley‘s favorite. She tries to put ‘em on every time we leave the house. I’ve tried to throw ‘em away but like, she found ‘em in the trash and brought ‘em back out.”

Take a listen:

Eventually, Brett realized he could argue with Presley about wearing them, or try taking them away, but eventually he says he learned.  “If she’s gonna scream for a half hour cause she can’t wear shoes that you don’t like, she doesn’t care. She’s two. Let her wear her shoes.”

Luckily for Brett, toddlers feet tend to grow pretty quickly, so he won’t have to worry about Presley wearing the shoes forever.
